दक्षिण कोरिया की राजधानी सियोल में बुधवार को एक निर्माण स्थल में भीषण आग लग गई। इस दुखद हादसे में अब तक 38 लोगों की मौत हो चुकी है। आशंका जताई जा रही है कि मृतकों की संख्या बढ़ सकती है। 

बताया जा रहा है कि इचिओन के निर्माणाधीन गोदाम में कई लोग अभी भी फंसे हुए हैं। स्थानीय समयानुसार दोपहर में लगी आग पर काबू पाने के लिए सैकड़ों दमकलकर्मियों को घंटों लग गए। आग बुझाने की कोशिश में दमकल विभाग के आठ कर्मी भी गंभीर रूप से चोटिल हुए हैं। जबकि दो लोगों को मामूली चोट आई है।     

जानकारी के मुताबिक अभी तक 30 मजदूरों को निकाला जा चुका है और बचाव कार्य अभी भी चल रहा है। इचिओन शहर के दमकल विभाग के प्रमुख सियो सुअंग ह्यून ने बताया कि अधिकारी आग लगने के कारण का पता लगा रहे है, जिसके विस्फोट के बाद लगने की आशंका है। हादसे के समय कर्मचारी भूमिगत तल पर काम कर रहे थे।

प्रधानमंत्री चुंग स्ये क्यून ने सरकारी अधिकारियों और राष्ट्रीय दमकल तथा पुलिस एजेंसियों से खोज एवं बचाव अभियान के लिए “सभी उपलब्ध उपकरण और कर्मियों” का सहारा लेने का आदेश दिया है।
