जूम वीडियो कॉलिंग एप के जरिए घर से काम करने वालों का डाटा चोरी होने की केंद्रीय गृह मंत्रालय की चेतावनी सही साबित हो गई है। कोलकाता में दो लोगों का डाटा चुराने के बाद हैकरों ने इसे वापस करने के बदले में रंगदारी मांगी है। खास बात यह है कि हैकरों ने पीड़ितों को रंगदारी की रकम भारतीय रुपये में नहीं बल्कि वर्चुअल करेंसी बिटकॉइन में चुकाने के लिए कहा है।

कोलकाता पुलिस के साइबर क्राइम विभाग के एक वरिष्ठ पुलिस अधिकारी ने बुधवार को बताया कि हैकिंग का शिकार हुए दोनों लोग जूम एप का इस्तेमाल कर रहे थे। दोनों को हैकरों ने एक ईमेल भेजकर उनके कंप्यूटर का बहुत सारा डाटा एनक्रिप्ट (कंप्यूटर में ही फाइल को कूट भाषा में सिक्योर कर देना) कर देने की जानकारी दी।

हैकरों ने इस डाटा को वापस करने के लिए बिटकॉइन में भुगतान करने के लिए कहा। ईमेल में बिटकॉइन खरीदने के लिए एक वेबसाइट लिंक भी शेयर किया गया था। अधिकारी के मुताबिक, हैकरों ने अपनी मांग पूरी नहीं करने पर उनका डाटा हमेशा के लिए खत्म कर देने की धमकी भी दी।

उन्होंने बताया कि एक शिकायतकर्ता ने उसे फाइलों को डिक्रिप्ट (कूट भाषा खत्म करना) करने के लिए 1000 डॉलर के बिटकॉइन का भुगतान करने का आदेश दिया। अधिकारी के मुताबिक, साइबर क्राइम विभाग के अलावा स्पेशल टास्क फोर्स (एसटीएफ) को भी इस मामले में जांच चालू करने को कहा गया है।

अधिकारी ने कहा, हम लोग इस बात की जांच कर रहे हैं इस अपराध में जूम एप का कैसे इस्तेमाल किया गया है। साथ ही हम हैकरों की तरफ से ईमेल में भेजे गए लिंक की भी जांच कर रहे हैं। इससे हमें कुछ जानकारी मिल सकती है।
