साहिर लुधियानवी का ये गाना हर उस इंसान की हकीकत है जिसके दामन पर कोई न कोई दाग लगा है और जो जीते रहने के लिए हमेशा एक नई कहानी के इंतजार में रहता है। मशहूर उपन्यासकार गुलशन नंदा की कहानी पर बनी फिल्म दाग टॉमस हार्डी के उपन्यास मेयर ऑफ कैस्टरब्रिज से प्रेरित मानी जाती है। फिल्म दाग को हिंदी सिनेमा का मील का पत्थर माने जाने में इसके संवादों का बड़ा हाथ है जिन्हें लिखा था उत्तर प्रदेश के बिजनौर में जन्मे शायर और लेखक अख्तर उल इमान ने। अख्तर उल इमान इस फिल्म के पहले तक बी आर फिल्म्स में मासिक वेतन पर लिखते रहे थे। दाग ने उनके करियर की रफ्तार बदल दी। आज के बाइस्कोप में कहानी इसी फिल्म दाग की, लेकिन आगे बढ़ने से पहले सुन लेते हैं फिल्म का ये कालजयी गाना।
